Age Concern Job Description

Do you want to have real influence?

Age Concern’s public affairs department works to influence the Government, Parliament and public opinion on a range of issues including pensioner poverty, age discrimination and the long term care needs of older people.

Politicians repeatedly name us as one of the top three most effective campaigning charities. We believe that we can achieve even more in the future. And that’s where you could come in.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to increase our impact where it matters to transform older people’s lives.

As a key member of our Government and Parliamentary Affairs team you will undertake high quality political monitoring, research and project work to support the department in a quest for real change for older people. You will also have day to day contact with politicians and their offices, and provide support to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Ageing and Older People.

With proven relevant experience (e.g. working in Parliament, for a political party or in a similar role in another organisation), you will be a skilful communicator and organiser - with demonstrable experience of providing analysis and intelligence on a wide range of issues. You will also have a keen interest in current affairs and an excellent knowledge of political and Parliamentary processes.

This post will be based at our London SW16 offices although there will be a requirement to work from our Euston offices and in other central London locations from time to time.
