Job Description
Network Rail is one of the country’s highest profile companies. We help to transport three million people on Britain’s rail network every day. Because we touch the lives of just about everyone in the country, we’re never far away from the news headlines. And being a key player in a vital industry, we are inevitably a focus of political attention. It’s no wonder, then, that we deal with 25,000 media and 120,000 public enquiries a year. Do you have what it takes to promote our organisation and manage our reputation?
Working in a small team, you will be responsible for managing our public affairs across Wales and the South West of England. By proactively forging strong links with key stakeholders including Government and Parliament, the Welsh Assembly Assembly, local authorities, passenger groups and others with local involvement, you’ll make a real difference to the communities upon which the railway impacts. Drawing on the expertise of colleagues throughout Network Rail, you’ll resolve a wide range of community concerns and constituency casework, as well as raising our profile through stakeholder meetings, tours and local events. You’ll also be actively involved in understanding, and communicating internally, the impact of any legislative changes on our activities.
To succeed in such a busy role, we’re looking for public affairs, lobbying and campaigning experience commensurate with the salary offered - including experience in dealing with the Welsh Assembly. Eloquent, credible, resourceful and thoroughly professional, you’ll listen to your broad audience as effectively as you communicate complex information to them in an easy to understand way.
