Job Description
The British Library is a treasure trove of knowledge. It is home to some 150 million items, including newspapers and sound recordings to historical items dating back as far as 300 BC. This remarkable resource is used by people around the world and thanks to the latest technology much of it is now available online.
The library is growing at the rate of 3 million items a year. Maintaining it and improving its accessibility requires time, effort and, of course, money. To help secure vital funding, our Public Affairs team liaise with a range of stakeholders, including the government, political opinion formers, and business, research and education leaders. With your help we’ll build on those relationships to raise further capital and influence legislation and public agendas in our favour.
As well as managing stakeholder relationships, you’ll be directly involved in the delivery of our public affairs strategy. It’s a busy and challenging role. You’ll need to be a natural communicator with a passion for all the great work that goes on at the British Library. An understanding of parliamentary protocol and procedures is essential.
