Which? Job Description

Which? exists to make consumers as powerful as the organisations they come across in their daily lives. In fact, we’ve been doing this for 50 years by helping people make the right buying decisions, telling consumers their rights and exposing corporate wrongdoing. Our personal finance campaign team is prolific. Never afraid to take on the big financial institutions, we have had considerable success in protecting consumers. Our lobbying brought about the Financial Services Authority and recently we helped consumers recoup millions of pounds against mis-sold endowments; now, we’re influencing the development of the personal accounts - the national pensions saving scheme - and putting unfair bank charges firmly on the map.

We’re now looking for a public affairs officer to help us influence decisions within the financial services industry and government. In this role you’ll promote a range of campaigns and policy issues to decision-makers and other stakeholders and devise and implement a range of public affairs tools to further our campaign aims as well as the profile of the organisation. As well as the verbal and written communication skills to put across complicated policy positions clearly and convincingly, you’ll need sound knowledge of UK government and parliamentary processes plus lobbying experience in the UK political environment. Knowledge of personal finance issues and an understanding of consumer policy would be desirable.
