Job Description

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd is the principle trade association for the motor industry in the UK. It is at the forefront of policy debates on key environmental, economic and regulatory issues affecting the automotive sector. A Policy Officer is required to join the SMMT’s Public Policy and Vehicle Legislation department to help research and influence Government policy at a national and European level.

The post-holder will support the work of the Policy and Economics team by providing regular briefings for staff and members on economic, industrial and environmental issues. The Policy Officer will contribute towards developing new areas of research in order to inform the policy agenda. They will take a leading role in developing industry responses to issues and communicating them to key political audiences.

The successful candidate is likely to be a graduate with interests or knowledge in areas of economics, environment and government affairs. This post provides the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of policy issues, many of which are high on the Government’s agenda.
