Genworth Financial Mortgage Insurance (MI) is a leading provider of mortgage insurance to lenders in multiple countries across Europe. The Mortgage Regulatory Specialist is responsible for the promotion and recognition of mortgage insurance across the EU.

Responsibilities

  • As part of the Government Relations (GR) strategy devise and implement a pan-European regulatory strategy to ensure recognition of the benefits of MI
  • Coordinate activities with the Government Relations Team and ensure seamless delivery of tactical plans in each constituency
  • Provide and/or co-ordinate advice and guidance on regulatory requirements relating to mortgage regulation, including keeping up to date with changes and their impact in the various countries in which the company operates
  • Engage with Financial Regulators to ensure maximum recognition of the product and its promotion
  • As part of the GR team, work with industry trade bodies, government departments and the relevant Financial Regulators to promote recognition of the product. This will include participating in Expert Groups and responding to consultation papers
  • Support commercial teams in country to drive revenue
  • Work with internal teams, including the Product Solutions Team, to ensure maximum value of the product is derived for lenders
  • Provide support to the Legal Team as required
  • Act as internal expert on all matters relating to mortgage regulation and other relevant legislation. Provide presentations, speeches, regular reports on progress and other support to management as required.

Experience & Education

  • Knowledge of mortgage regulation at EU level and in a variety of European countries, possibly including: UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Finland, Poland
  • Working knowledge of national and international Financial Regulators across Europe and trade associations
  • Critical thinking/good analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • Experience of legislative analysis and drafting
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Project management skills
  • Proven team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • European language skills desirable
  • Legal qualification and experience a plus
  • EU eligibility and willingness to travel.
