Job Description

The Local Government Association Group is seeking a highly motivated Senior Public Affairs and Campaigns Officer to promote local government and the LGA Group to our national politicians and key stakeholders.

Key duties will include writing briefings, lobbying parliamentarians on legislation, preparing for select committee inquiries and organising political events including party conference activity. You will also be expected to play a key role in our campaigns and provide strategic advice to the LGA Group.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience of having worked in a fast moving political environment, managing a diverse workload and completing projects on tight deadlines. A strong and practical understanding of parliamentary procedure is essential. You will need outstanding communication skills and be highly organised. You will need to be an enthusiastic team player and to be able to quickly develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

This position is based in Local Government House, Smith Square, Westminster.
