Why we need you
Which? helps to make individuals as powerful as the organisations they deal with every day. Lobbying politicians, civil servants and industry, among others, to change legislation or influence company behaviour is an important way to achieve this. As is our work in reaching out to all consumers by giving them the information to make changes for themselves or mobilising them to support our call for change. This is what the advocacy team does.
As an intern, you will work with the advocacy team, as well as with policy and media colleagues to bring about meaningful change for consumers.
What will I be doing? You will be asked to fulfil a range of tasks such as:
- Assist in the delivery of advocacy plans
- Monitor, summarise and circulate information on advocacy issues to team members
- Follow and attend parliamentary and business meetings
- Organise events
- Maintain our political contacts and achievements databases
- Help to promote Which? Advocacy team through our intranet and internet
What skills do I need?
An Honours Graduate with good research skills and an ability to demonstrate a strong interest and experience in achieving change. You should also be highly numerate. Good organisational skills are essential as is the ability to work on your own initiative. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. You’ll need to be able to get up to speed on new areas quickly but most of all, you’ll need to be full of ideas, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about consumer related issues with a real can-do attitude.
How much time do I need to commit? This is a full-time paid post, working 5 days per week for 6 months.

- Where you have specific training needs, we will encourage you to attend the relevant courses.
Where will I be based? You will be based in our London head office on Marylebone Road. The nearest tube stations are Warren Street, Great Portland Street and Regent’s Park.
Interviews for this role will be held in mid July 2010 and the internship will start on 6th September 2010.
