Job Description
Age UK is the new national charity formed by the merger of Age Concern and Help the Aged. Our ambitions are huge – we aim to re-shape our ageing society‚ so that later life is a time of security and opportunity for all.
We are looking for someone with a flair for communicating policy and campaigning issues to the media to join our busy press office.
You will work closely with colleagues across the influencing division to develop and implement a media strategy to drive the organisation’s influencing, policy and campaigning media work. You will manage the news agenda and lead a team of four in identifying proactive media stories and developing innovative ways of communicating through the media. You will be agenda setting in your approach which will ensure we have external impact in terms of influence and commentary.
With experience of delivering high impact media coverage, you will proactively and reactively identify, initiate and manage news stories and their development and build a network of contacts throughout the media, especially with influential reporters and commentators.
You will have extensive experience of working in a fast-moving press office, managing a high performing team and a strong track record of delivering high quality issues-based media coverage. With excellent writing and communication skills, you will work to tight deadlines and be able to analyse and translate complex policy and political issues to the media and general public.
35 hours/wk.
