With Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region and the West Midlands steaming ahead towards their first mayoral elections in May, one cannot help but feel that Yorkshire has been left behind. Much is made of the 'Yorkshire brand' and the cultural cohesiveness of the region but thus far, this has not translated into a shared vision of how to precede.
Will devolution go ahead in South Yorkshire? Will the rest of the region seek devolved powers?
Join DevoConnect and the Yorkshire Building Society for an evening of discussion and debate with speakers presenting their understanding of the state of devolution in Yorkshire and what should be worked towards in 2017.
Invited speakers include:
- Andrew Percy MP, Minister for the Northern Powerhouse;
- Cllr Judith Blake, Leaders of Leeds City Council and Chair of the Core Cities Group;
- Cllr Carl Les, Leader North Yorkshire County Council;
- Cllr Stephen Brady, Leader Hull City Council;
- Mike Regnier, incoming Chief Executive of Yorkshire Building Society.
The event is held in partnership with Yorkshire Building Society.
The event will be followed by a drinks reception.
