In June 2013 the Leader of the Opposition, the Rt Hon Ed Milliband MP set up the Local Government Innovation Taskforce. Its remit was to review how local government operates and to create a new vision for public service design and delivery, one that replaces duplication and inefficiency with innovative, value for money services which can meet the current and future demands of an increasing and ageing population.

The inquiry which reported on the 1st March highlighted one key theme which could be adopted which along with innovation can deliver tailored services for communities - Place. The concept that one size does not fit all and that designing and delivering services based on the need of a local area is one way to drive efficiency and better services.

With this in mind Policy Knowledge is proud to present Local Government under a Labour Administration. This event will look to shine a hypothetical light on what Local Government may look like if Labour were to win the General Election in 2015.
