The Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA), Government Knowledge (GovKnow) and Zetter’s Political Services (ZPS) have joined forces for The Public Affairs Awards.

Between them, they cover the whole industry across the entire United Kingdom. Between them they have the pedigree and the passion to showcase all that is best in this vibrant industry.

The Awards ceremony will take place in the Thames Room at the Park Plaza Riverbank on 9 December 2014. Compering the evening will be Jon Craig, Chief Political Correspondent of Sky News.

The Shortlisted Finalists were announced on 10th November. For details about how to attend the 9th December ceremony, please visit the Public Affairs Awards website.

The judging committee is headed by former Chair of the APPC Michael Burrell and includes PubAffairs Founder & Director Phil Murphy. The entry and judging process will be co-ordinated by Elspeth Graham.

About The Public Affairs Awards 2014

We believe that lobbying is laudable, and that the public affairs industry – ethically and efficiently run – is a force for good in any developed democracy. Lobbyists ensure that every side of every argument is examined and tested. They also go some way towards redressing the balance between the government – with the full resources of the civil service at their disposal – and the opposition parties.

Regardless of the 'No' result of the recent Scottish referendum, devolution is here to stay. Powers will be gradually shifted from Westminster to Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, and we have sought to recognize this by including awards categories in these areas. Local authorities are also resurgent, newly-confident in their ability to serve the communities they represent. And, of course, it is difficult to ignore the EU, and we have not done so.

With these awards we also recognise that lobbying is not something that is just done by multi-client agencies, but also by in-house individuals and teams. We also realise that lobbying is not the exclusive preserve of corporates; charities, pressure groups, NGOs and trade unions also lobby – and do so very effectively.

We have restricted our inaugural awards to 15 categories. We could have identified many more – but that would have led to a very long evening. There should be a category for every field of lobbying, and entering the Awards has been both simple and affordable.
