The Housing Fringe 2014 will be the key event in setting the agenda on housing at this year’s Liberal Democrat Conference.

Back for the second year, the Housing Fringe is a new style of fringe event which is being supported by a partnership of leading organisations from across the housing sector – Genesis, Gentoo, Metropolitan, Moat, Peabody, Riverside, Sovereign and Mears Group. The event will feature the Rt Hon Danny Alexander MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Stephen Williams MP, Minister for Communities and Local Government and Cllr Keith House, Leader of Eastleigh Borough Council and Co-chair of the Government’s Independent Local Authority Housing Review.

The UK housing market has changed beyond recognition. The number of people unable to access housing via conventional routes has multiplied, and the market no longer meets growing housing need. This new market requires a creative response. Housing associations are already beginning to deliver innovative solutions, but need the freedom and flexibility to reshape the future.

The fringe will be a Q&A style event designed to be interactive and inclusive, geared to maximum audience participation and involvement. We want to facilitate a genuine and lively debate about some of the big picture challenges for the housing sector and set out our suggestions to how to help deliver the homes that we need.

This is THE housing event at this year’s party conference.

Please note that this event is held inside the secure zone and a Liberal Democrat party conference pass is required for access.
