Looking for a role that balances scope for creativity and communications prowess with the skills needed to support a busy advocacy team?

We’re looking for an Advocacy Assistant to help support our work to progress the priorities of our insurance and long-term savings members. You will report into the Advocacy Manager and also support the Advocacy Director and wider Advocacy team on a number of projects, including member communications and ABI diversity and inclusion initiatives and digital content. Find out more about how we support this in our workplace and industry here.

As well as working on key projects, you’ll be producing newsletters, updating our intranet content and working with our design agency partner to oversee ABI print and production. It will be a varied and, at times, fast paced role requiring great interpersonal skills dealing with people within and outside of the organisation.

Your role:

This is a busy and hugely varied role that will keep you on your toes. Your role interacts with almost all of our staff and you need to be up for the challenge of getting to know and work collaboratively with all ABI teams, at all levels.

Because of our constantly developing projects and priorities, some aspects of your job will naturally evolve over time, but right now your day to day will include:

  • Preparing, editing and delivering key ABI member communications including the Director General weekly newsletter, regular newsletters for ABI networks and the internal staff newsletter;
  • Supporting the Advocacy Manager with the delivery of key projects, including initiatives to support better diversity and inclusion in the industry, member communications and video and the ABI annual review;
  • Maintaining oversight of ABI print and production to ensure quality and efficiency and manage budget administration;
  • Undertaking research and analysis work for the Director of Advocacy and Advocacy Manager ensuring that they are fully informed on wider industry developments, including regular monitoring of diversity and inclusion developments;
  • Providing specific support for the Director of Advocacy, including writing briefings to ensure the Director is well prepared ahead of meetings and engagements;
  • Proactively monitoring external developments in key areas of interest to the ABI and with its members;
  • Leading the process for coordinating and delivering the weekly and annual Advocacy meetings;
  • Preparing regular analytics reports to analyse and track member engagement with ABI communications;
  • Coordinating the regular updating of various online hubs as well as the ABI intranet, thinking creatively about how best to showcase content.

We’re looking for:

There’s no minimum education requirement, but you will need some office experience, even if it’s not in a related role.

We’re looking for an interest in working in advocacy/communications and some knowledge of the current political landscape. In your application and interview, we’ll be looking for someone confident, proactive and who isn’t afraid of a fast paced environment. You’ll naturally build relationships quickly and be able swiftly to grasp and communicate complex concepts.

Finally, you’ll need to be social media and digitally savvy with lots of enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.
