The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

DevoConnect is a public affairs communications consultancy ‘with a mission’ to promote and support devolution in the UK. We connect organisations to those who have the power to change minds across the UK. DevoConnect is at the forefront of devolution plans working with the seven Metro Mayors in England.

About the role

We are seeking an individual with a strong interest in politics and developed organisational and copy-writing skills to work with DevoConnect’s Executive Team at our office in Manchester. You will primarily develop and support our communications and marketing functions. This is a unique opportunity to work with a top political team and senior decision-makers in the devolved Metro Mayoral areas as well as in Westminster. You will be managed by the Head of Policy but will work with all the DevoConnect team.

The internship will be part-time and commence for an initial period of 3 months (12 weeks) with effect from 5th March.

Responsibilities

  • Collating/writing content for the DevoIntelligence newsletter;
  • Distributing the newsletter through Mailchimp and other social media;
  • Monitoring and updating Twitter feeds;
  • Updating the DevoConnect website and LinkedIn page;
  • Maintaining client databases;
  • Adding articles to the DevoConnect website;
  • Support and assist with events;
  • Ad-hoc tasks as required.

Desired skills and attributes

  • Strong and demonstrable interest in politics (e.g. you should be working towards a degree in politics, public policy, economics, governance, sociology OR recently graduated and/or related and relevant extra-curricular activity and experience);
  • Interest in the politics of localism and devolution, particularly one of the devolved areas e.g. Greater Manchester or Liverpool City Region;
  • Good digital skills;
  • Basic understanding of the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Basic knowledge of social media.
