Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Local Dialogue is a leading stakeholder communications consultancy working with clients in both the public and private sectors, predominantly on planning and regeneration projects. Our clients include major names such as National Grid, Sainsbury’s, IKEA, Westfield and some of the biggest developers and housebuilders in the UK.

We are looking for an intern to join us in our Leeds office for three months who is keen to learn about our business and get involved with our clients’ projects, which could lead to permanent employment for the right person.

Duties would include:

  • Monitoring on national, regional, local, online and trade media, as well as political news sources;
  • Researching local and national politics for individual projects;
  • Helping to organise, publicise and staff public events;
  • Supporting the team by managing databases and correspondence;
  • General support on active projects.

We require:

  • Very strong written and oral communication skills – you should have excellent written English with close attention to detail;
  • The ability to work efficiently and to tight deadlines;
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with internet-based research. You should be proficient with Microsoft Office and happy to work on a Mac (or willing to learn);
  • An interest in current affairs, local government, planning law, regeneration and/or development.

This internship would suit either a recent graduate or post-graduate student, and provide an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a communications consultancy. It is a paid position, Monday - Friday, 09:00 – 17:30 with one hour for lunch.
