Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

Working as part of a small team and acting in an advisory capacity you will be instrumental in providing research, campaign and administrative support as part of the Chamber’s well-established policy function.

You will work closely with the Chief Executive and fellow Policy Adviser to coordinate the Birmingham Chamber Patron programme, actively account managing the Chamber’s highest profile members and engaging them in policy related issues and debates and will action and monitor associates activities to support the retainment of Patrons.

In addition, you will research relevant policy issues critical to business success and work to represent business views to key decision makers at varying levels, as well as organise policy events and meetings for Chamber members. You will have a key role in communicating the work of the Policy Team internally and externally by producing position papers, consultation responses, utilising social media and working with the media, as well as organising regular committee meetings.

The ideal candidate will be able to handle a varied and demanding workload with drive and enthusiasm. You will have a degree in a relevant subject or policy/political experience and be able to demonstrate a keen interest and understanding of governmental institutions, decision-making processes and business issues. A familiarity with economics and research methods would be an advantage.

You will have strong administrative/organisational competencies and excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to analyse and interpret information for advocacy purposes.
