The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is the Capital’s largest independent business support organisation, representing the interests of thousands of London businesses. It provides professional, independent and affordable services and is recognised as the ‘Voice of London Business’. All of the LCCI’s business services are designed to help member companies succeed and include award-winning b2b networking events, on-line business advice, export documents and conference and meeting facilities.

The Role

The post-holder will support the delivery of the Policy and Public Affairs departmental plan through supporting activity in stakeholder engagement, media relations, policy research and assistance at events.

While this is a supporting post within the PPA team, the role offers the post-holder an opportunity to build and develop a broad range of skills and experience across a range of public affairs related disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying and tracking public policy developments of interest and/or concern to LCCI and/or wider London business;
  • Contributing to the production of policy position statements, select committee submissions and consultation responses, briefings to external audiences;
  • Maintaining a register of LCCI responses to inquiries and consultations;
  • Supporting the delivery of campaigns and public policy initiatives that further the objectives of LCCI and its members;
  • Supporting the Press & Media Relations Manager with capturing LCCI press coverage and utilising social media;
  • Supporting the Policy Research Manager with ongoing policy research tasks;
  • Supporting the Events Manager –Patron and Policy to deliver PPA events. This will consist of assisting the Event Manager on the day of the event only. For example the registration desk, room set up (if necessary) plus anything else needed on the day to assist the smooth running of the event;
  • Project working as directed by the Head of External Affairs Team or Director of Policy and Public Affairs;
  • Building strong relationships with LCCI members ;
  • Monitoring activity of LCCI competitors and fellow chambers;
  • Co-ordination of PPA team activities (including team diary and monthly meetings);
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Head of External Affairs Team or the Director of Policy and Public Affairs.

General

  • Liaison with other LCCI teams, especially Patron and Marketing to assist with maximum delivery of services to members as appropriate;
  • Playing an active part in team briefings, staff meetings and other internal communications;
  • Working with MRT colleagues to support events and initiatives;
  • Drafting of articles for external publication including London Business Matters;
  • Provision of material for LCCI Board and Council reports as required.

  • Experience of communications/public affairs in-house/consultancy/political organisation;

  • Commercial awareness;
  • Proficient with databases.
