Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

Applications are now open for a Public Affairs and Member Services Executive at the Association for British Bookmakers (ABB), to start as soon as possible. This is a full time position and the role will be based at ABB offices, 25 Buckingham Palace Road, London.

The ABB is the leading trade association for operators of Licensed Betting Offices (LBOs). Our members include Gala Coral, Ladbrokes, William Hill, Paddy Power Betfair and around a hundred smaller family owned businesses. Together the industry manage over 8,000 shops, employ over 43,000 people and contribute over £1 billion in tax and £3.2 billion in value added to the economy each year and returns over £300 million each year to the horse and greyhound industries through levy and media rights payments.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Organising ABB events across the UK, including roundtables, party conferences, meetings and visits;
  • Maintaining high levels of engagement and feedback from members;
  • Compiling presentations and research notes and maintaining databases;
  • Supporting ABB engagement, drafting letters and arranging meetings;
  • Taking minutes at meetings and other general administrative support;
  • Other duties as required as part of the team.

About you:

To be considered for this opportunity, you will hold a degree and have a keen interest in current affairs and politics. It is important that you are organised, with the ability to prioritise and manage several pieces of work at any one time and possess effective demonstrable written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience of building strong, positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Adept at compiling presentations and organising events;
  • Excellent written communications skills;
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise work load;
  • Personable, with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels;
  • Comfortable and confident working independently.
