Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

We have an exciting opportunity for an intern to support our public affairs and PR activity in our Welsh office. This role will give you hands-on experience and the chance to work on live projects and activities as you assist in the delivery of high quality communication to our members, politicians, stakeholders and the media using both traditional and digital channels.

Your tasks will include:

  • Monitoring activity within Welsh government, political parties and relevant organisations;
  • Providing initial research for consultation documents;
  • Supporting the RPS in developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders;
  • Contributing to the delivery of both member and general public focussed PR campaigns and events;
  • Assisting the Welsh team in drafting content for the website/blog/newsletter.

During your internship you will:

  • Learn about public affairs and PR in a professional environment;
  • Work in a small, friendly team and liaise with colleagues across the organisation;
  • See your contribution make a difference;
  • Build skills and confidence.

The right candidate will have:

  • A relevant degree;
  • Knowledge of Welsh current affairs and legislative process;
  • Knowledge of Welsh media;
  • The ability to analyse information and understand the implications from a policy and public affairs and PR perspective;
  • Excellent analytical skills, knowledge or research methods, qualitative and quantitative.

The position is based in the Society’s Welsh office, 2 Ash Tree Court, Cardiff Gate Business Park, Cardiff CF23 8RW.
