Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

We are looking for interns to join our growing 20-strong UK Public Affairs team in London, working on issues at the intersection of British politics and business.

Our team is part of the wider FTI Strategic Communications practice, one of the world’s most highly regarded communications consultancies operating in more than 25 key markets, advising clients on communications strategies to protect, enhance and defend their business. We work in multiple sectors – from energy, to financial services, healthcare to TMT.

This is an exciting opportunity for intelligent, politically astute and commercially aware graduates, to secure exposure to UK and multinational public affairs campaigns and issues.

The paid role will entail a broad range of work including:

  • Undertaking high quality research into politics, business and wider issues;
  • Supporting the briefing of clients ahead of political engagement meetings;
  • Supporting the development of position papers and messaging documents;
  • Supporting the development of new business research and pitches;

The role will also require a level of administrative support to wider members of the team, and other ad-hoc tasks as and when required.

We seek exceptional candidates with a friendly attitude, determination, passion for politics, and awareness of the value communications can bring to organisations.

The ideal person will:

  • Be graduate level from a leading university or working towards a degree;
  • Have demonstrable knowledge of and enthusiasm for British politics and business in the UK;
  • Have some experience of working or actively volunteering in Westminster, Whitehall or party politics, or writing political content. Or, have previous experience working in PR, Public Affairs or a related corporate environment, with a clearly demonstrable passion for politics;
  • Have an ability to synthesise large amounts of complex information succinctly and accurately;
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Have first-class organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload;
  • Have a professional eye for detail;
  • Be a friendly, confident, enthusiastic and a team player.

We are flexible on the length of the internship, but preferably 3 months, with the potential for an extension and full-time position for exceptional candidates.
