ACS (the Association of Convenience Stores) is the voice of over 33,500 local shops across the UK. As the industry’s leading trade body ACS campaigns for a fair diverse grocery market, works with Government to promote responsible retailing of alcohol, tobacco and healthy foods; and works to reduce burdens on the industry across a number of areas. As part of our activity, we have developed a number of research projects which inform Government and the industry on the state of the convenience sector.

We have an opportunity for a Research Assistant to support the Association’s work in this area. This job is ideal for a graduate with experience of working with stats packages such as SPSS, excellent communication and presentation skills and an enthusiasm for working in a small team. This is the right role for a person who is at an early stage of their career in research and communications but is ambitious to take on responsibility and advance quickly.

The post will involve the following:

  • Conducting in-depth analysis of data on the convenience sector, and provide commentary on trends and patterns emerging in ACS data;
  • Managing ACS’ research schedule with external partners and ensure that deadlines are met;
  • Managing ACS’ survey contacts and broaden the base of retailers that take part in ACS research;
  • Ensuring that ACS research is robust and that surveys are optimised for the best results;
  • Assisting in ACS’ social media activity including the production of information specifically for social media platforms;
  • Supporting the presentation of data in ACS submissions to Government;
  • Supporting the presentation of data in ACS publications.
