Weber Shandwick has announced that David Skelton will join its London office in May to head up its UK public affairs practice.

Skelton has worked in politics, policy development and public service reform for over a decade. Known as a Conservative thinker, he has experience working in both private and public sectors, providing strategic advise to blue chip companies and working closely with senior politicians.

Following two years at Policy Exchange as Deputy Director and Head of Research, Skelton founded the think tank Renewal, aiming to broaden the appeal of the Conservative Party. The Sunderland supporter regularly appears on TV and radio and has written numerous publications for various media outlets.

Jon McLeod, Chairman of the UK Corporate, Financial and Public Affairs practice, commented: “David’s appointment reaffirms our commitment to cross-party public affairs consultancy at a time when the political scene will remain fluid for the foreseeable future.

“He also brings that combination of intellectual rigour and creative thinking that is the hallmark of Weber Shandwick’s approach to public affairs consultancy.”

David Skelton commented on his own appointment: “I’m hugely excited about working with Weber Shandwick, a real leader in the field of public affairs, to help clients respond to unique public policy challenges in uncertain times.”

“I look forward to working with Jon and the team to build further Weber Shandwick’s strength in depth in public affairs.”
