Field Consulting has recruited Thomas Cook’s former Public Affairs Manager Jake Botham, following the company's collapse in September. Botham, who started at Field on Monday 28th October as an Account Manager, will work on Field’s transport accounts and it’s growing infrastructure and energy portfolios.

Lucy Holbrook, Field’s Managing Director said: “The demise of Thomas Cook, the world’s oldest travel company and an iconic British brand, was a very sad day for the travel and tourism industry, as well as British business as a whole. This is especially true for the thousands of talented employees who lost their jobs following the collapse.

“However, with Field’s rapidly expanding accounts in a growing number of areas, Jake is the perfect fit to help us manage these, especially considering his experience in the travel, tourism and transport sectors, and we’re thrilled to have him onboard.”

Botham, who started his career in Parliament, worked at Thomas Cook’s Group office based in St Pauls and was retained for a period to help the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) with the repatriation of Thomas Cook customers stranded abroad.

He was part of the comms and coporate affairs team who were credited with helping provide effective communications support for the business during a time of immense turbulence and scrutiny. The team was led by Alice Macandrew, former comms director at Sky and News Corp, who earlier this month described the experience as “horrific”.
