Boost Bingo, The Bingo Association and PLMR’s campaign to reduce Bingo Duty, has picked up the Public Affairs award at the 2014 PRWeek Awards. The campaign exceeded original targets when George Osborne announced that Bingo Duty would be halved to 10% in his fifth Budget earlier this year. The campaign was originally hoping for a reduction to 15%.
The campaign’s success was rewarded at the awards ceremony, hosted by James Cordon at Grosvenor House on Tuesday 14 October. The other campaigns nominated for the Public Affairs category included:
-
Access For All (Scotland)
Indigo for Beating Bowel Cancer -
Securing Camden's Future: Ditch the HS2 Link
Insight Public Affairs for Camden Town Unlimited -
Beat it Now!
Just Health Communications for Meningitis Now -
UK China Visa Alliance Campaign to Boost UK Chinese Visitor Numbers
Rain Communications for UKCVA
The judges were looking for the campaign that demonstrated “the most effective use of PR to change or enlist political or public opinion utilizing either lobbying or broader grassroots public affairs tactics including media and on-line relations”.
PLMR Deputy Managing Director, Elin Twigge (pictured right), said: “We’re absolutely delighted that the success of the Boost Bingo campaign was recognised against such stiff competition.
It was an intense campaign but it was loads of fun and the result was everything we’d been aiming for and more.
This is the icing on the cake of a fantastic year for PLMR.”
PLMR’s Boost Bingo campaign was showcased on PubAffairs earlier this year after a successful Budget announcement.
