Launch of new CIPR Diploma in Public Affairs and Political Communications

Set against a backdrop of parliamentary reform, this new diploma from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations couldn’t be better timed. What makes it different is that rather than focusing just on how institutions work, it prioritises developing the best public affairs talent. It does this by:

  • Exploring how the public policy environment operates, the actors involved and how to engage in the process;
  • Looking at the pyschology of communication, persuasion, rhetoric, engaging the electorate, the role of the media, digital channels and political marketing;
  • Ensuring that public affairs is linked to corporate communications including the role of stakeholder analysis, issues and crisis management, relationships and collaboration;
  • Exploring ethical concepts and codes of conduct that help shape practical aspects of public affairs delivery.

Designed and delivered by university-based academics and public affairs specialists, it is aimed at those wishing to enhance practical experience with academic underpinning and broader communication and campaign insights that can help build a successful public affairs career. It is taught at master’s level over six months and consists of four one-day sessions that culminates with an individual research project.

For more information about content, costs and teaching dates visit www.pracademy.co.uk or contact Sarah Roberts-Bowman, course leader, on 07989 302348.
