Nominations Deadline Approaches for the Public Affairs News Awards

Nominations for the Public Affairs News Awards enter into their final few days as organisers confirm that the BBC’s Chief Political Correspondent Laura Kuenssberg will be hosting the event.

Now in their sixth year the Public Affairs News Awards are to be held on the evening of Wednesday 27th October 2010.

This year will see the introduction of four new awards including ‘Best Use of Social Media in a Public Affairs Campaign’, and 'Best Agency to Work For', alongside all the usual favourites such as ‘Consultancy of the Year’.

The 24-strong judging panel refreshed with new faces from across the sector, and – for the first time – the shortlisted entries and winners across all categories will be decided entirely by the judges (replacing the former process of some categories being decided by online votes).

The three shortlisted entries in selected categories will be invited to support their nomination by means of a short presentation to selected judges. This process was introduced for last year’s awards and was roundly praised for the rigour it provided.

As in previous years, category nominations are open to anyone to self-nominate or to nominate another individual, organisation or campaign. All nominations are to be submitted online by Friday 30th July 2010.

Westminster Wanderers: Want to join a winning football side?

Westminster Wanderers is an established South London football club, with four teams in the Southern Sunday League and an occasional midweek side. We're always looking for new players of a good standard (particularly goalkeepers and strikers!) and welcome players of whatever experience. Many of our players come from public affairs and public relations backgrounds and the club has strong links with PubAffairs.

Last season we won the Southern Sunday League Cup, meaning our sides have won three trophies and a promotion in two seasons. We also went on tour to Barcelona, playing the ‘Legends’ sides of a number of Spanish league clubs. And we are touring to Finland and Estonia in August.

The club has a pre-season programme with training sessions and pre-season fixtures, midweek and on Sunday mornings. You are welcome to join us for pre-season training - the first session will take place on Sunday 25th July at Battersea Park Astro from 10am. We will be training or playing every Sunday after that date.

If you want to join the club, or are simply interested in finding our more, e-mail Club Chairman Alex Aiken at aaiken@westminster.gov.uk or Deputy Chairman Darren Caplan darren.caplan@b2lpublicaffairs.com We look forward to hearing from you.
