Ellwood & Atfield Job Details

A new position of Director of External Affairs has been created for a well considered academic thinktank.

The Director will lead the centre’s engagement with corporate, political and media stakeholders. It is important that you gain a thorough understanding of the different types of work by the academics, especially research reports and consultancy projects, in order to maximise the impact of the centre’s policy output.

You will do this by:

  • Using the research findings to impact on the policy process and feedback to academics on the key issues that could direct future research programmes
  • Organise events to disseminate the findings of research and to influence key and senior stakeholders
  • Work with the Executive Director to build relationships with business, NGOs and public bodies in order to expand the funding base for single entity projects though to broader support for the Institute.

It is imperative that you are able to understand how best to work with an academic membership. You will have gravitas with substantial experience engaging with senior political and business representatives in order to help translate the Institute’s work to these audiences.

Agency experience would be beneficial but it is not essential.
