General Medical Council Job Details

The regulator of the medical profession, our purpose is to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine. We are currently looking for a new Investigation Manager to play a crucial role in our important work.

Leading a busy team of Investigation Officers with a caseload of complaints and referrals about doctors, you will ensure that every investigation is handled correctly. This will mean managing everything from the team workload to individual performances, from working within protocols to achieving agreed targets.

You must have a strong management background in an environment bound by complex regulatory (ideally legal) frameworks. Previous experience of instructing or working closely with lawyers would also be an advantage. You will be used to managing large workloads and achieving success working with published performance targets. As well as being able to get the best out of others, you’ll have good written drafting skills and be comfortable working with internal and external contacts on work of a highly sensitive nature.

In addition to the opportunity to work for a premier regulator in this challenging and rewarding role, you’ll enjoy an excellent benefits package that includes a generous holiday allowance and private medical insurance.
