A Public Affairs Manager is sought by an international pharmaceutical company.

This is a business critical role that will manage regional sales staff and have significant influence over sales strategy. You will seek to establish long term strategic partnerships across the healthcare sector with substantial weight attached to developing a profile across the NHS.

Your substantive responsibilities will include:

• Managing public affairs activity across the UK and Ireland;
• Engaging with government, NHS and other stakeholders on policy issues;
• Responding to consultations on behalf of the business to articulate policy positions;
• Managing a team of regional sales managers ensuring that their activity is guided by your understanding of the external political environment.

This is a highly visible role that will require a proactive approach to government affairs activity and the ability to understand the commercial implications of public and regulatory policy. As such, you will demonstrate the following:

• Significant experience in government relations, public policy or NHS strategy;
• A solid grounding in UK and Ireland political processes with experience of operating across regional jurisdictions and knowledge of respective health services;
• Demonstrable experience of leading and managing a team;
• The ability to demonstrate experience of operating in a commercial environment but an appreciation of the positive impact that the business will have on patient care;
• Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland.

The role is home based but with a requirement to attend head office meetings weekly in the south east. It is recommended that candidates are based within easy reach of London given the nature of the role.
