The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Our services include political consultancy, corporate communications, media relations, event management and senior executive training. 

12 members of our 25 strong team work on healthcare clients. We also have a busy pipeline of new business and marketing initiatives.

The role:

  • We are recruiting an Account Manager to specialise in healthcare;
  • You will be the day-to-day account lead for client accounts including implementation of integrated PA strategy; HTA management; disease prioritisation; stakeholder relationship development; event management; and intelligence;
  • Develop and facilitate successful relationships with wider external stakeholders, both for existing and potential clients;
  • Contribute to the development of new business opportunities through marketing initiatives and external networking.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to client strategy development and provide strategic counsel to clients to navigate the healthcare and political landscape;
  • Project management of various work streams in account programmes, including keeping clients appraised of progress with campaigns, as well as through the maintenance of an activity matrix;
  • Develop a broad understanding and overview of the current and emerging healthcare and political issues and relevant macro policy levers impacting client accounts;
  • Ensure smooth running of client events, such as through the provision of relevant materials: including agendas; briefing papers; liaison with delegates; and, attendance at the event;
  • Develop strategy and lead on mapping, messaging and engagement activity, for client campaigns;
  • Support new business proposals and pitches, including leading research, participating in brainstorms, advising on strategy and programme development. 
  • Attend industry events on behalf of the agency with a view to networking, building contacts and broadening policy knowledge;
  • Contribute to internal marketing initiatives through the development of materials and the identification of opportunities and targets; 
  • Contribute to ongoing internal training on NHS insitutions, policy levers and decision-makers.

Person Specification:

Healthcare Knowledge

  • Demonstrate a strong interest and understanding of the UK healthcare landscape and political climate;
  • Have the ability and desire to thrive in a fast-moving and high-intensity working environment;
  • Have the confidence and ability to effectively communicate with team members, clients and key audiences as required.

Quality of Work and Organisational Skills

  • Have excellent organisational, writing, IT and communication skills;
  • Demonstrate the ability to  manage a workload with often conflicting and tight deadlines, whilst also being cognizant of account team deadlines.

Personal Effectiveness

  • Have the ability to scan and summarise complex documents and announcements effectively, and develop client strategy, content and ideas;
  • Be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general internet tools.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Have a strong academic record;
  • Demonstrable experience of producing written work to high standard;
  • Demonstrable experience of working in public affairs, camapaigns or communications, ideally with experience of consultancy.

  • A competitive salary and bonus package will be agreed with the successful candidate;
  • 7.5% company pension contribution (4% employee salary sacrifice);
  • 25 days annual leave plus an extra 3 days at Christmas when the office is closed.
