Join the Network

You will be joining a small, highly motivated advocacy function within a busy and successful corporate affairs team. This is a critical period for the British Library in its own strategic cycle and a challenging political landscape.

The role would suit people with:

  • Strong knowledge of public affairs and parliamentary procedure, with experience building relationships with parliamentarians and their staff, civil servants, and other political and corporate stakeholders;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise and effective briefings, correspondence, newsletters, reports and other documents;
  • Strategic and political insight – you will need to advise colleagues on strategy implementation and the external political environment;
  • Organisational ability – you will need to deliver our planned communications to a tight schedule, and work under pressure to produce high quality work whenever needed. Effective contact and record management will also be important;
  • Understanding of and sympathy with the British Library’s mission and its priorities.

Knowledge of the property and planning, higher education and research, or arts and culture sectors would be beneficial, but are not required.

This is an opportunity to take on a challenging role in a successful team, and help shape the future of an influential public sector institution. This is a full-time post, working Monday-Friday, with occasional commitments outside office hours at the Library and other locations.
