An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with a leading charity who are looking for someone to join the team as an Assistant Parliamentary Officer as we approach the General Election in 2015.

The successful candidate will be working within the parliamentary team helping to develop and implement effective parliamentary lobbying programmes in light of the organisation’s campaigns. The role will also include engaging with MPs, Civil Servants, key stakeholders and other key decision makers addressing key issues for vulnerable people.

The role will include:

  • Monitoring parliamentary activity;
  • Raise awareness of the organisation’s campaigns;
  • Preparing briefings for MPs and peers;
  • Identifying opportunities to work with parliamentarians;
  • Organise events in Parliament.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous experience of monitoring parliament and bills;
  • Good knowledge of parliamentary procedure, government structures and lobbying;
  • Experience of producing detailed written briefings on a range of subjects;
  • Working experience with parliamentarians (gained in or outside of parliament);
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
