3.6 million children live in poverty in the UK today. Statistics suggest they will get lower GCSE grades, earn less and die younger. It doesn’t have to be this way. We believe in the power of education to change this.

As Associate Director of Press, Public Affairs and Policy, you’ll play a leading role, both operationally and strategically, in developing Teach First’s voice and influence when it comes to debate about educational inequality.

This isn’t your ordinary maternity cover role. We’re not your average charity either. This is a high-profile and challenging position within a fast-paced and growing organisation. We’re looking for a change-maker. We want someone who is self-assured and hungry to drive change; with a bag full of creative ideas and approaches.

You’ll lead a high-performing and dynamic team to deliver a strategy for maintaining our Government support and funding; building relationships with a wider network of political and policy contacts, developing position statements on relevant education policy and designing the national and local media campaigns that will communicate them to the wider public.

As a member of the Teach First leadership team, you should be an experienced and articulate communicator with exemplary relationship management and influencing skills, accustomed to working with senior stakeholders. Excellent judgement, political nous and media sense goes without saying. You will report to and work closely with the Directors of Communications.

Enhance our press and public affairs work, grow our voice and lead a team to success. We want to see Teach First become the first port of call for comment on and around the educational achievement gap. Take us there and in return we’ll provide you with the support and development opportunities to propel your career to the next level.
