BATA, the trade body for UK airlines, is seeking a Chief Executive to represent the industry and to run the organisation when the current Chief Executive retires in September 2014.
BATA members account for 96% of UK airline output and directly employ over 70,000 people. They carry over 130 million passengers per year and more than 1 million tonnes of cargo. There is also a growing associate membership programme for airline suppliers.
As the successful candidate, you will build on strong relationships with government, policy makers and regulators, as well as with other sectors of the aviation industry, and speak for the industry at public events and through broadcast and print media. You will have the support of a small executive team, but will also be directly involved in the development of policy positions and responses to consultations. A particularly important part of the role will be launching and organising campaigns to further the interests of BATA members, often in co-operation with other trade bodies.
To be considered for this important position you will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and an efficient administrator, ideally with a strong track record in campaign management not necessarily restricted to the aviation industry. Your excellent communications skills will be combined with proven diplomacy and the ability to collaborate with others in support of common objectives.
