Join the Network

The British Toy & Hobby Association, a well respected toy trade organisation, is looking for an enthusiastic all rounder to join a small team as a Communications and Public Affairs Manager. You will be responsible, alongside a Communications & Public Affairs Director, for appropriately and positively representing the work of the association in all external and internal communications.

The successful candidate will be involved in, and in many areas responsible for, the core activities of the association; a positive, proactive consumer campaign, a trade exhibition, lobbying on behalf of reputable companies, building relations with key officials and stakeholders and proactively working with members to address current trends and upcoming challenges.

Core Responsibilities

Advocacy

Continuously remain abreast of any issues of interest to the association and its membership and to represent the membership of the association in messaging, stakeholder engagement and creative thinking on proactive solutions to industry issues.

Communications

To manage internal and external communication on behalf of the association; to be the first point of contact for media enquiries; to promote consumer campaign messages through social media, PR and advertising; to develop website content; to develop and deliver member communications on the work and interests of the association.

Event Co-ordination

To coordinate events in relation to public relations initiatives; to manage PR agency relations day to day (specifically management of trade exhibition PR agency and press office); managing day to day media and exhibitor PR enquiries in relation to trade event.

PR Management

To manage agency relationships and oversee them day to day; to be responsible for all event PR and to manage consumer PR campaigns.

The successful candidate will have Public Relations or Public Affairs experience (ideally both but a proven track record in one, with a keen interest in learning the other would be positively considered). You will be experienced in implementing communications plans and be able to demonstrate previous examples of creativity and delivery. We are looking for an experienced individual with the enthusiasm to work in a small team for an exciting industry.

This role requires a person who works well in a small team, is willing to turn their hand to a variety of jobs at busy times of the year and enjoys a varied and interesting role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
