Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

We are looking for a Consultant with an understanding of and interest in UK policy. This full-time role is an important position in the team and will support a number of prestigious clients in our Advocacy team.

Role overview

You will be responsible for:

  • Drafting briefing notes for (and about) all relevant UK political representatives;
  • Building demonstrably effective working relationships with MPs and Peers offices;
  • Developing and delivering long-term client contact programmes with elected representatives, stakeholder groups and other relevant target audiences;
  • Project managing events including Parliamentary, stakeholder and new business events;
  • Providing public affairs monitoring reports;
  • Drafting early day motions and parliamentary questions;
  • Attending client meetings and drafting ‘right first time’ action notes;
  • Conduct stakeholder mapping interviews;
  • Contributing creatively towards new business pitches, attending brainstorms.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for an outstanding individual with the following:

  • Excellent knowledge of UK policy and parliamentary processes;
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills;
  • Passion for news and/or politics and an understanding of their potential impact on business objectives;
  • Excellent time management/project management;
  • Strong networking skills with key media, stakeholder and prospective new business clients;
  • Experience working for an MP would be an advantage.
