A wide-ranging, high-profile role as Corporate Affairs Advisor with Aggregate Industries, part of the Holcim group and one of the UK’s largest quarry operators.

We’re recruiting a Corporate Affairs Advisor reporting to our Head of Communications & Sustainability and interacting across our business up to Director level.

The successful candidate will split their time equally between government/external relations and CSR. Supporting the Head of Communications & Sustainability in delivering an engagement programme with national and local government and leading the development of our CSR strategy in line with our Group values will provide the candidate with a wide range of corporate affairs experience. We also expect you to play a role in the wider Communications and Sustainability team, helping to define our future direction and communication goals.

Key accountabilities of the Corporate Affairs Advisor would include:

  • Engaging with MPs, civil servants, local and regional bodies as well as trade associations and other external stakeholders we partner with;
  • Monitoring and responding to legislative change, including written representation, keeping our business informed;
  • Defining and delivering a CSR strategy across the UK, in line with Group values, in conjunction with leaders across our business;
  • Engaging external parties on our sustainable development policies;
  • Helping to define and manage our external reputation.

Educated to Degree level, you have a proven track record in public affairs, ideally within the construction or a related sector and you’ll have a passion for CSR. Excellent business and report-writing skills complement real strengths in analysis and research, together with project/programme management. You thrive in a fast-moving, multi-site environment and, in addition to having excellent all-round communication and presentation skills, your additional attributes include:

  • Comfort in operating to targets with a high degree of autonomy;
  • First-class IT-literacy;
  • A proven history of building strong relationships to influence key stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.

There has not been a more important or interesting time to influence government policy around housing, infrastructure and highways and, as one of the UK’s largest suppliers of traditional and sustainable construction materials to major building and construction customers, we’re well placed to do so. With nearly 4,000 employees and operations across the UK and Northern Europe, we're committed to helping create a better built environment.
