The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Director of Policy, Campaigns and Communications with a major UK charity.

You will:

  • Lead the implementation of the Charity’s public policy strategy to build key external relationships and influence policy at a national and local level, supporting the Charity’s overarching strategy for 2015-18;
  • Lead the development and delivery of high-quality and impactful policy and research activity to influence government policy and raise awareness of the housing crisis;
  • Establish and maintain high level, productive relationships with government ministers, politicians, civil servants and special advisers;
  • Act as a spokesperson and ambassador for the organisation in the media and lead sector coalitions, campaigns and partnerships;
  • Oversee the design, production and dissemination of high quality, expert-led research projects that support the organisation’s aims and objectives;
  • Lead the development the Charity’s communications strategy and then operationalise it through implementing tailored best-in-class communications plans;
  • Develop, implement and manage the Charity’s campaigns strategy to maximise supporter engagement, raise awareness of the brand, market services and facilities, and communicate programmes, activities and impact. 

You will have:

  • Strong leadership skills - with a strong motivational, staff development and enabling orientation;
  • Demonstrable track record of bringing social issues into the spotlight, to play their part in putting housing squarely on the national agenda;
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering impactful and creative national campaigns at a senior level and mobilising the public to campaign for change;
  • Proven track record of developing and executing well-evidenced policy strategies and approaches that have far reaching and demonstrable impacts;
  • Demonstrable experience of high-level strategic thinking combined with the ability to drive the implementation of detailed plans to deliver change;
  • A track record of influencing public policy agendas and the ability to influence internal stakeholders and external decision makers;
  • Innovative approach to policy development aligned with the strategic aims of the charity;
  • Demonstrable track record in developing organizational communication strategies.
