Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Economics Lead (Policy).

You will:

  • You will be responsible for developing investment policies (DB and DC) which influence the outcome of public policy in the interests of the members. This will involve the production of high quality, evidence-based research reports and responses;
  • Working with DB and DC Councils and with respective Policy Leads, you will integrate investment issues into the Association’s work programme. You will raise our profile on investment issues so that we are associated with clear and interesting views and policy positions that work for asset owners;
  • You will provide practical support to members on investment and economic issues, for example through the production of guides and checklists;
  • You will provide high quality support to the Asset Owners Committee, Local Authority Committee and Stewardship Advisory Group to ensure that we understand the investment views of pensions funds and draw on their expertise;
  • You will act as a spokesperson for the Association on investment issues at industry events and in the media;
  • You will build strong links with government and regulators in the UK and EU, with trade associations and with the Association’s fund and business members so that we are well-networked and able to influence the right people at the right time.

You will have:

  • A background as an economist;
  • Proven experience of operating at a senior level in a complex organisation;
  • Experience of applying investment know-how in a public policy setting, e.g. some experience of dealing with and lobbying Government;
  • Experience of dealing with the media (print and broadcast);
  • An understanding of working in a membership organisation and within a political environment.
