Our client is a leading financial services trade association and an influential organisation across the UK and Europe. They are currently looking for a Head of EU Affairs to take responsibility for their advocacy work in Europe and for EU issues affecting the UK. The post holder will help develop and articulate policy, analyse the impact of EU policy on members and ensure relevant information on financial services issues reaches targeted stakeholders in a timely and appropriate way.

The role will require frequent overnight travel to Brussels and other European cities.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • A substantial proven track record of working in a policy-related/public affairs/political environment role (for example, in the EU, in a finance ministry, in the EU or another financial services membership body) with a demonstrable ability to build and maintain contacts;
  • A clear understanding of current affairs and relevant EU financial services public policy issues;
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of political issues, the legislative process and the EU institutions involved;
  • A network of contacts across Europe;
  • Have fluency in at least one other core European Union language, in addition to English (desirable);
  • Knowledge of financial services issues at a European level (desirable);
  • A track record of developing and maintain good working relationships with counterparts in European institutions, member’s organisations and with other stakeholders.
