Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

VMA are currently working in partnership with The Elders, a group of independent global leaders working together for peace and human rights, to recruit a talented and experienced Head of International Media. This key role will help build the profile of the organisation, developing and maintaining relations with international news media.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement media strategies to raise profile, disseminate policy positions and contribute to mission/objectives;
  • Build relations with news media contacts internationally;
  • Identify opportunities for news coverage, media interviews and op-ed placement;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency of communications on all platforms; liaising with policy staff on internal and external communications as required;
  • Manage Media Assistant.

The Candidate:

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably at senior level;
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Ability to work in an international environment with sensitivity to different cultures;
  • Strong news sense with good working knowledge of global media environment;
  • Fluency in English is essential and proficiency in French is highly desirable;
  • Willing and able to travel abroad for work.
