The University of Hertfordshire is internationally renowned as the UK’s leading business-facing university, committed to transforming the lives of its students.

We are inviting applications to join the Vice-Chancellor’s office as the University’s Head of Policy. You will join the University at a crucial time with the launch of our 2015-2020 strategic plan.

Working with the Vice-Chancellor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Universities public affairs and government relations strategy. You will help position the University with policy-makers in Westminster and Whitehall, the HE sector and other stakeholders. The role will include pro-active public affairs, policy development, writing articles and papers, research, briefings and speeches, and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences. This will involve close liaison with the staff across the University as well as taking an active role in external meetings, whether representing/supporting the Vice-Chancellor or independently.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about Higher Education, who have an excellent grasp of the policy process, ideally with experience of working in Westminster or Whitehall.

The University is required to meet UKVI visa regulations. Applicants who do not currently have the right to work in the UK will have to satisfy UKVI regulations before they can be appointed.

Salary: £37,394 - £39,685 pa with potential to progress to £47,328 pa on achieving designated skills and experience

Full time position working 37 hours per week, 1.0 FTE
