An Interim Head of Policy is being sought to lead the strategic development of the UK’s financial capability strategy. This is a critical role in high profile policy area that has had input from Government, regulators, charities and the financial services industry working together to improve the nation’s financial capability for over a decade.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and driving forward UK initiatives to develop the UK's level of financial capability;
  • Working in partnership with multiple stakeholders to ensure the collation and dissemination of work;
  • Liaising with bodies, statutory and otherwise, from countries working to develop financial capability;
  • Develop 'community of practice' model to ensure insight and understanding is continually pushed forward and fed into established international networks;
  • Facilitating and managing the organisation’s policy development pipelines;
  • Advocating policy positions across the organisation;
  • Leading the interface with political and industrial stakeholders, ensuring appropriate representation of the Service.

To be considered, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A track record of senior strategic public policy development, ideally with exposure to the financial services industry;
  • An in-depth understanding of the UK’s political structure and networks including the devolved nations;
  • Demonstrable appreciation of the importance of market insight and evidence gathering from consumer, stakeholder and industry sources and how corporate strategy and processes benefit from this;
  • Corporate strategy development experience;
  • Excellent communication skills with the gravitas and credibility to influence a complex network of internal and external stakeholders (Government, regulators, industry, charities etc…);
  • Extensive experience of leading high performing teams.
