A disability charity is currently seeking an Interim Head of Policy & Research to oversee the strategic leadership and day to day management of public policy team for a period of 6 months. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing strategic influencing plans for the organisation’s policy work with a focus on political and other external opinion-formers and institutions;
  • Oversee the development of the policy work programme and link up with the strategic public affairs plan;
  • Ensuring that research and evidence are utilised in the most effective way to inform robust policy positions.

To be considered, candidates must be available at short notice and demonstrate the following essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • A strong track record in public policy development, ideally within an associated field;
  • A track record in influencing public policy;
  • Demonstrable team management and leadership experience with evidence of motivating and performance managing teams of public policy and research professionals;
  • A demonstrable track record of developing and implementing strategic influencing plans with senior external stakeholders (politicians, opinion-leaders etc…);
  • Experience of conducting and managing research, data analysis and knowledge of research techniques.
