The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

In light of Brexit there are a multitude of uncertainties surrounding the UK’s trading position. The UK government is seeking to take advantage of the many potential opportunities that have arisen as a result of the people’s decision to leave the EU. A leading business lobby group are currently recruiting for a Trade Policy Adviser to work on the frontline, on behalf of industry and commerce, to influence the UK’s trade and investment policy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing evidence based policy recommendations on post-Brexit UK trade and investment agenda;
  • Engaging with senior business leaders in policy development activity;
  • Developing relationships with policy officials, politicians and other external organisations that have an interest in trade policy;
  • Representing the organisation on a variety of platforms, delivering presentations and campaign messages.

Required knowledge, skills & experience:

  • A strong academic background, ideally to master’s degree in a public policy related discipline, or equivalent;
  • A strong understanding of both the UK and EU political landscape, ideally with experience of working for an EU institution;
  • Knowledge and experience of trade policy – essential;
  • Demonstrable experience of policy development and influencing.
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging with senior officials and business leaders;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
