A leading trade association are currently seeking a Policy Adviser to take the lead on shaping the organisation’s policy work relating to the importance of the education system in individual career development and its impact on UK business community.

This is an important and high profile opportunity to work on key policy issues facing the future of the UK economy and how education plays a significant role in shaping our future workforce.  

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing an expertise on education policy issues in the UK;
  • Developing a network of relationships with stakeholders across the education community as well as working with the business community to develop appropriate policy positions;
  • Developing policy briefs, reports and consultation responses whilst working on discrete policy projects;
  • Working to develop relationships across the political spectrum (MPs, civil servants, regulators etc.);
  • Representing the policy positions of the organisation to a variety of external audiences.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience to be considered for the role:

  • A strong academic background, ideally to MA level or equivalent;
  • Some experience in a public policy environment with a food understanding of UK and, ideally, EU political institutions;
  • Some knowledge of, or interest in, education policy issues would be ideal;
  • Experience of working with a variety of senior stakeholders;
  • The ability to link education policy issues to the needs of the business community.
