A Policy Advisor (Equalities and Diversity) is required by a professional association based in central London for an initial period of 6 months. This contract may be extended.
The role
A crucial role in the organisation, this person will be responsible for developing and advocating policy positions on equalities and diversity legislation with a view to improving practices across the profession. You will:
- Maintain an up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant policy and legislation;
- Develop policy papers and reports on equalities and diversity issues and best practice;
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation and its Members at events, seminars and conferences to ensure the equalities and diversity policy messages are suitably advocated to all relevant audiences;
- Work across the organisation, especially the communications function, to develop and execute the most appropriate lobbying and engagement strategies.

- Excellent academics, educated to degree level or equivalent;
- Demonstrable knowledge of up to date equalities and diversity legislation and best practice;
- Evidence of developing policy papers, reports and responding to consultations (in a government, regulatory or other similar environment);
- A background in effective stakeholder engagement and lobbying to influence policy outcomes (government, regulatory bodies);
- Experience of pro-active representation at events and seminars;
- Strong written and oral communication skills with evidence of presenting to senior internal and external stakeholders.
