Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

A Policy Advisor (Equalities and Diversity) is required by a professional association based in central London for an initial period of 6 months. This contract may be extended.

The role

A crucial role in the organisation, this person will be responsible for developing and advocating policy positions on equalities and diversity legislation with a view to improving practices across the profession. You will:

  • Maintain an up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant policy and legislation;
  • Develop policy papers and reports on equalities and diversity issues and best practice;
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation and its Members at events, seminars and conferences to ensure the equalities and diversity policy messages are suitably advocated to all relevant audiences;
  • Work across the organisation, especially the communications function, to develop and execute the most appropriate lobbying and engagement strategies.

Role requirements

An excellent opportunity to work with a high profile profession and advance the equalities and diversity message, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Excellent academics, educated to degree level or equivalent;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of up to date equalities and diversity legislation and best practice;
  • Evidence of developing policy papers, reports and responding to consultations (in a government, regulatory or other similar environment);
  • A background in effective stakeholder engagement and lobbying to influence policy outcomes (government, regulatory bodies);
  • Experience of pro-active representation at events and seminars;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with evidence of presenting to senior internal and external stakeholders.
