We are currently working with a leading, international business representative body who are recruiting for a Policy & Government Affairs Manager (EU Negotiations).

This is a critical, high profile leadership role that will place the successful individual on the frontline of influencing the Brexit negotiations on behalf of UK industry and commerce. You will be responsible for engaging with the UK government, Brussels institutions and individual EU Member states to ensure the best outcome is achieved for British business. Further, you will:

  • Seek opportunities from Brexit and devise policy solutions for multitude of challenges ahead;
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation and its stakeholders with a variety of domestic and international audiences which will include UK Government, EU Institutions and Member States;
  • Provide leadership for a highly competent team.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Candidates are required to demonstrate extensive experience of engaging with the UK government on complex policy issues with successes in influencing change:

  • A strong academic background to degree level or equivalent;
  • A detailed understanding of EU policy process and its composition;
  • Experience of working on issues surrounding the UK’s departure from the EU, or knowledge thereof;
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrable experience of representing the interests on business or high profile stakeholders at senior levels within Whitehall and Westminster (ideally including the EU);
  • Demonstrable experience of dealing with complex policy challenges and identifying solutions;
  • Strong line management experience with the ability to lead and take people with you.
