Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

We are an independent and high profile organisation in the housing sector, which is uniquely placed in terms of working both with the house-building industry and with home-buyers. Our work covers a diverse range of housing-related issues from zero carbon and building regulations through to training and skills.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a talented policy and public affairs specialist to help deliver an effective external affairs strategy. The successful candidate will:

  • be responsible for monitoring policy developments across the UK and EU and communicating relevant developments internally;
  • proactively lead a programme of site visits for high profile stakeholders;
  • compile our unique quarterly statistics for external audiences;
  • help to plan and deliver all aspects of relevant events including high level roundtables;
  • support the drafting of submissions to policy consultations;
  • represent the organisation at appropriate networking events and meetings at Westminster, EU and with devolved bodies;
  • forge strong working relationships with colleagues across the UK.

Experience

With excellent political awareness and the ability to analyse and communicate complex information to senior colleagues and stakeholders, you will play an important role in delivering NHBC’s busy external affairs programme. We are looking for someone who:

  • has excellent working knowledge of Parliamentary procedures and Whitehall departments;
  • produces first-class writing including clear and concise briefings for internal and external audiences;
  • has proven experience of advising and supporting senior colleagues;
  • makes sound and evidence-based judgment calls;
  • is extremely well-organised and pays keen attention to detail;
  • can work autonomously and has a positive, can-do attitude;
  • is educated to degree level or equivalent.

Knowledge of housing issues is desirable but not essential.
